On our Facebook Page, we regularly share a “Celebrating Life” idea each week. Some of those are small steps you can take to embrace life to its fullest. Others are occasionally outside the box. Collectively, these are reflections of wisdom — reminders that there are many ways we can Celebrate Life together.
As an extension of that, today we’re going to share a series of thoughts and quotes that we think fully embody this mindset.
We could all use a little bit of wisdom
The Abrahamic religions of the world may be familiar with Proverbs 4:7. There, King Solomon simply says that the beginning of wisdom is to “get wisdom.” If you recall, Solomon was believed to be recognized for his wisdom. And it was through his ability to see things the right way that he earned his riches.
In other words, his legacy isn’t his splendor or his wealth, but rather the words of wisdom he left behind and are still being studied thousands of years later.
“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”
This quote has been ascribed to Socrates, and at first might seem to be in contrast to what we just referenced from King Solomon. However, on a closer look, we think it's more along the lines that they were saying the same thing.
In essence, Socrates was encouraging us to stay humble. To think that we know it all means we can never grow, even if we’re a subject matter expert in our line of work. Staying humble and open means that we can expand our knowledge.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
This well-known saying has its roots in the medical industry. However, it applies to many aspects of our life. Often, planning falls by the wayside as we work through our daily to-do lists. We’re typically reactive instead of proactive.
Everything needs maintenance and an occasional tune-up, from our HVAC system to our vehicles to our will and beyond. Being proactive with them today can save you larger headaches down the road.
Life is precious
We’d be remiss if, in a collection of various reflections of wisdom, we didn’t highlight one that we believe in so strongly. For example, rather than call our facility a funeral home we refer to it as a Celebration of Life Center. This is both a reminder of the way we choose to honor those who have passed away as well as a reminder that we should embrace life with open arms.
Recently, we published a blog on the beauty of life. In short, there we encouraged our readers to find ways of shifting their mindset so that they can see the good that’s around them.
Why do this? Because, again, life is precious. It’s a gift and one that deserves to be celebrated.
Celebrating Life with these reflections of wisdom
Our goal today was just to share a few thoughts and how these simple, wise sayings can help us be the best version of ourselves that we can be. It's all a part of our mission to help you Celebrate Life, and if you need more assistance with that process down the road, just let us kn
