W. David Pooler

W. David Pooler, age 79, passed away on February 18, 2022 in Springfield, Ohio. David was born on May 29, 1942 in Marietta, Ohio to the late George Henry and Bertha Marie (Hesson) Pooler. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, George Allen Pooler, grandsons, Brandon and Joel Jr., and brother-in-law, Johnny Johnson. David is survived by his loving partner of almost 40 years, Dee Eakins, children; Thomas David, Victor Anthony, Kimberly Diane, Pamela Dee (Bobby), and Amy Hiles, grandchildren; Zane, Hillary, Tabitha, Elijah, Mikaela, Katarina, Zoe, Caleb, Emily, and Tori, great-grandchildren; Grace, Faith, Bennet, Lex, Adrian, Nellie, and Isla, sister, Marilyn Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.

In his freetime, David liked to garden, do woodworking, ride his motorcycle, and tinker with cars. He retired from Vernay Laboratories after many years of service. David also selflessly served our country for 4 years in the United States Army, spending part of his tour in Germany, and also serving on the Arlington National Cemetery Honor Guard. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Funeral Home, Yellow Springs. The service will begin at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Kevin Moehn. David will be laid to rest at Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in David’s honor.
