Thomas Allan Maruschak, born on November 21, 1946, in Oberlin, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, in Springfield, Ohio. Tom lived a life rich in music and family, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and love.

Tom's passion for music began early, leading him to graduate from Oberlin Conservatory College in 1964 with a major in music performance. During his service in the military from 1964 to 1967, Tom contributed to the 49th Army Band as a Tuba player and assistant director, further solidifying his connection to music and leadership. Throughout his life, he played the bass guitar in various bands, showcasing his talent and dedication to the art. In addition to his musical pursuits, Tom owned and operated Night Life DJ Service and Mars Sound Design in Lorain, Ohio, where he brought joy and entertainment to countless events. He tirelessly worked at US Steel before retiring, yet his love for music never waned. 

Tom's interests extended beyond music; he found joy in cooking, solving crossword puzzles, and most importantly, spending quality time with his family. His warmth and engaging spirit made him a cherished presence in their lives.

He is survived by his son, William Maruschak; stepsons, Scott Thompson and David Lunsford; grandchildren, Allan Maruschak, Christopher Maruschak, Allison Harding, Monica Thompson, Stephen Thompson, Lorna (Zach) Walden, Diana Thompson, Brenda Thompson, Katrina (Dalton) DeHart, Clara Thompson, Hanna Thompson, Tommy Good, Cassie (Madi) Lunsford and Emily Lunsford; great-grandchildren, Avery Walden and Issac DeHart; and brothers and sisters, Andy, Mike, Donna, and Nancy.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Maruschak; son, Michael Maruschak; and parents, Stephen and Margaret Maruschak. 

Graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 2p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, 640 Northridge Rd. West Lorain, OH 44053. If attending, please use the second entrance at the flagpole. A celebration of life for Tom will also be held on Friday, August 30 from 3-6p.m. at New Beginnings Church, 591 Washington St. Amherst, OH 44001. Arrangements entrusted to Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield, OH where condolences may be expressed by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com.
