SMITH, Rufus Edward “Ed” 58 of Springfield, Ohio passed from this life to his eternal life on Sunday, November 3, 2019 as a result of several years of failing health. Born in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. Eldest son of Chester and Gaynelle Smith of Springfield. Loving husband to Jean Smith of Springfield with over 38 years of marriage. Father of John (Jill) Smith and their children Logan and Audrey of Charlotte, North Carolina. Father of Eric (Kelcey) Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio. Brother to Randy (Theresa) Smith and Rev. Rick (Karen) Smith all of Springfield. Uncle to Molly (Dan) Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio and Aaron Smith of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Many other uncles, aunts, cousins, family and friends scattered across the United States and around the world. A gathering of family and friends will be at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center, 2425 North Limestone Street in Springfield on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral service on Saturday, November 9 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Johnny Rice and Reverend Rick Smith officiating.
