Robert F. Byers

BYERS, Robert F. age 97 of Springfield passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 28, 1922 to the late William and Mary Alice (Cassell) Byers in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 53 years, Mary Byers; infant son, David and siblings: John, Vernon, Walter, and Mildred. He leaves behind his four children: Sue McEnaney, Linda Alspaugh, William "Bob" (Anita) Byers, and Kevin (Cindy) Byers; grandchildren: Angel, Phillip, Mary Lisa, Matt, Tracie, and Melissa as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Robert served in the United States Army during World War II where he was wounded twice and received a Purple Heart for his faithful service. He retired after 24 years from I Supply and loved to hunt and fish. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with his funeral beginning at 12:00 noon. Burial to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in Robert's honor.
