Robert “Bobby” Douglas Henry, age 77, passed away on February 18, 2022 in Springfield, Ohio. Bobby was born on May 2, 1944 in Springfield, Ohio to the late John and Genola (May) Henry. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers; Carl and Richard, and sisters; Barbara, Carolyn, Rosalee, and Shelia. Bobby is survived by his two sons, Kerry Henry and Todd (Jenny) Henry, brother, Ernest (Ramona) Henry, grandchildren; Jasmine, Monique, Taylor, and Kanye, special friends; Lamar “Baso” Daniels, Gary Truss, Otis Williams, and Michael Peterson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bobby was a 1963 graduate of Springfield South. He was an outstanding athlete, lettering in baseball, basketball, track, and football. He received a scholarship to play football at Kansas State University after high school. Bobby selflessly served our country in the United States Army, serving a tour in Vietnam where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He retired from Navistar after 30+ years of work. Bobby was a sharp dresser, always dressed to the nines from head to toe.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. A private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Online expressions of sympathy may be left for the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com.
