Richard Lee Parrett

PARRETT, Richard “Dick” Lee age 82 of South Vienna, Ohio passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 18, 2023. He was born on May 21, 1940 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Glenn and Hazel (Buckley) Parrett. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 10 years, Ellen Parrett; siblings: Frederick Parrett, Paul Parrett, Roderick Parrett, Glenn Parrett Jr., Pearl McElyea, Helen Zoellener, Annie LeMaster, James Parrett, Leon Parrett, Donald Parrett, John Parrett and Charles Parrett as well as his dearest friend, Mike Heider. Richard leaves behind his children: Gloria (Chip) Hobbs, Doug Parrett, Angie (Vern) Horne, and Tonya (Ron) Carter-Traudt; sister, Sarah Lemmon; sister-in-law, Cora Parrett; grandchildren: Jeremy Lipscomb, Amber (Jason) Willis, Jami (Dana) Rothery, Ashle Parrett, Tyler Parrett, John (Lindsey) Horne, Darien Carter and Amen Traudt; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson on the way. Richard is also survived by the mother of his children, Bonnie Hawks; numerous extended family and friends including: Ken DeLeat and Janet Heider. Richard served his country for six years in the United States Army and retired from Kelsey Hayes Manufacturing after 32 years as an internal grinder operator. As a side job for many years, Richard enjoyed laying carpet and bailing hay on the farm. He loved deer hunting and being outdoors. He was a member of many clubs including: Moose Lodge #1213, Union Club, the Eagles and the Machinist Club. Gathering of friends and family will be at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with his memorial service beginning at 3:00 p.m. with his son-in-law, Vern Horne officiating. Richard will also receive military honors concluding the visitation and at the beginning of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Richard’s honor.
