Phyllis Rae Gossett

August 26, 1942 — October 1, 2024

Springfield

There is great news coming from Springfield, Ohio on the first day of October. My wife of 63 years and mother of my children, Kimberly Adamson, Russ Gossett, and Cheryl Leach, grandmother to 10 grandchildren, including one grandchild Cody Tackett who will be flying in from California to be his grandma's pallbearer and great grandmother to 16 great grandchildren and great great grandmother to two great great grandchildren. She fought her last battle with dementia and was taken to Heaven while lying beside her youngest daughter who at the time was telling her she was her baby girl and praying for her pain and helplessness. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Stewart, mother, Jessie Stewart, brother, Mike Stewart, and sister, Carol DeWitt. She leaves behind her younger sister, Joetta Dalie. Phyllis touched the lives of many people in her 82 years here on Earth and she never met anyone she didn't like. Before dementia took over her body, she was very active in different parts of the ministry, from teaching Sunday School to leading bible school kids. There will never be another woman like Phyllis. She was also known as the flower lady of Bird Road because she was always working in the yard cleaning and plating flowers. She will be missed by many.

There will be a viewing at Jackson Lytle and Lewis Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday, October 7, 2024. The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Richard Blevins on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 12:00 PM, also at the funeral home. Following the funeral, there will be a short chapel service at Rose Hill Burial Park. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com.
