Pearl F. Johnson, 88, of Springfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 16, 2020. He was born on May 8, 1931, in Cable, Ohio, the son of the late Kenneth and Naoma (Apple) Johnson. Pearl is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Wilma (Sagle) Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jacquelyn Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Steve Weaver; daughter-in-law, Debra Johnson; grandchildren, Jennifer, Amy, Gary, Naoma, Jason, Elizabeth, Andrea, Laura, Ryan, Elizabeth and Eric; 23 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; special niece, Dorothy; and numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Dr. Larry Johnson; and siblings, Clyde, Betty and Mary. Pearl was employed for many years as a bus driver for Springfield schools, worked at Omar Bakery, Borden Dairy and also for 12 years at the London Correctional Institute. He and his wife have been members of the Nazarene Church for over 50 years and most recently are members of the First Church of the Nazarene in Springfield. He has served on the Church board in Hillsboro and Springfield and was the head church usher in addition to being active in numerous other church activities and programs. Pearl loved being a church bus driver and he started the church bus ministry at the First Church of the Nazarene in the early 1970’s. He enjoyed traveling, camping and every second that he could spend with his family was treasured. Pearl was a kind-hearted and loving husband, father and grandfather who always made sure that faith was the foundation of his family. Viewing will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 11a.m.-1p.m. at First church of the Nazarene, 901 E. Home Rd. with a celebration of his life beginning at 1p.m. Pastor Keith Sarver will be officiating. Burial will follow at Byron cemetery, Fairborn, Ohio.
