Lois A. (Peters) Artis, age 90 of South Charleston passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 5, 1934, to the late Paul G. and Romain M. (Tolbert) Peters in Springfield, Ohio. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, David Artis; son, Paul D. Artis and sister, Martha Crowl. She leaves behind her daughter, Jackie (Walter) Perry; daughter-in-law, Kim Artis; sister, Marjorie (Buster) Light; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Lois was a dedicated teacher at Northeastern School District for 3 years and at Southeastern School District for 37 years. She was a member of Clark County Retired Teachers, Monday Night Club, South Solon Church and South Charleston United Methodist Church. She loved spending time gardening, bowling, doing word searches, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Lois was a beloved teacher and member of the South Charleston community and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Ingling Williams & Lewis Funeral Home, South Charleston and her funeral will follow on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at South Charleston United Methodist Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Beth Holten officiating. Lois will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions be made to the Southeastern Athletic Boosters or South Charleston United Methodist Church in Lois' honor.
