Larry B. Allen, a loving husband and father, devoted grandpa, and cherished brother, peacefully passed away on October 27, 2024 in Dayton, Ohio. Born on December 7, 1949, in Piqua Ohio, Larry graced the world with his gentle spirit and kind heart for 74 remarkable years.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Larry served his country with honor during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972, embodying the strength and courage that defined his character. Following his military service, he ventured into a career driving a semi for Yellow Freight, where he dedicated himself to his work until he was blessed to retire at the age of 58.
Larry found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures, notably riding his beloved Harley Davidson alongside his wife, Sheryl. Together, they enjoyed numerous trips with his Harley Club in Medina, creating treasured memories of adventure and togetherness. Anyone who knew Larry understood his deep love for God; he lived a life filled with faith and conviction, always placing his Lord at the forefront. He had an unwavering desire to share his faith, spreading the word of his Lord and Savior to everyone he met, always confident that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Described as a laid-back individual with a wonderful sense of humor, Larry was a loving person who cared deeply for others. His kind and gentle soul made everyone around him feel treasured. He had a natural ability to make you feel like the most important person in the room, always present and engaged, his laughter echoing through gatherings of family and friends. Larry adored spending time with his grandchildren, and those moments of play and chasing around the room will forever be cherished by Alyssa, Liam, Rosemary, and Nora.
Larry leaves behind a loving family who will always remember him fondly. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Sheryl (Greenwell) Allen; his daughters, Danielle (Dakota) Masters and Molly (Geoffrey) Barnes. His legacy will also live on through his treasured grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
