Julinia M. Skiles

Julinia Skiles (Vannatta) age 84 of Springfield, passed away peacefully December 14, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born in Pike County, Ohio on September 21,1939 to the late Gilbert and Dora (Havens) Adams. Julinia leaves behind her husband, Gary D. Skiles; brother, Everett “Jeep” Adams; children, Brian Vannatta of Bartow, Fl., Lisa (Mark) Beair of Springfield, Nikki (Chino) Acevedo of Springfield, Shelly Skiles, Carolyn Beady and Gary Skiles; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Vannatta; daughter, Faith (Vannatta) McDonald; daughter-in-law, Connie Vannatta; granddaughter, Shelia Vannatta (Brian and Connies Daughter); sister, Mable Richmond (Mills); brothers, Charles Adams, Orion “Squeak” Adams and Donald Adams; sisters-in-law, Elaine Adams, Ginell Adams and Donna Jean Adams. 

 

Julinia began her walk with Jesus as a 12-year-old attending Sunday school at Maiden Lane Church of God. She gave her heart to Jesus February 8,1959, and continued to serve the Lord in many different positions. She worked in the nursery as a volunteer, taught Sunday school, was a youth Director and a faithful church attendant. She came to Forest Valley in 1993 and has been active and faithfully attending ever since. She also was a Sunday school teacher for preschool kids, a member of the church choir and had a role in the Christmas play. She enjoyed playing chair volleyball and helped do the mowing and maintaining the equipment at the church. She loved being involved in anything that she was able to and she will be greatly missed. 

 

A celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00am at Forest Valley Freewill Baptist Church, 1821 Troy Rd., Springfield, OH 45504.Julinia will be laid to rest in Plattsburgh Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Forest Valley Freewill Baptist Church in Julinia’s honor.  Condolences are forwarded to the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com
