Joyce E. King

March 3, 1941 — March 15, 2025

Cedarville, Ohio

Joyce E. King, a beloved matriarch and unwavering supporter, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 15, 2025, in Xenia, Ohio, at the age of 84. Born on March 3, 1941, in Ashland, Ohio, Joyce’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with kindness, love, and a remarkable ability to encourage those around her.

Joyce was not only a devoted mother to her daughter, Sheri (Scott) Zaage, but also a proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Karyn (Nate) Webster, Eric Zaage, Mark Zaage, and Alex Zaage (Bethlehem Fraser). Her heart brimmed with joy as she embraced her great-granddaughter, Carly Marie Webster, relishing the many pictures that filled her heart with happiness. The day she held Carly marked a significant highlight of her later years, illustrating her boundless love and devotion to her family.

A life partner to the late Elvin King for over six decades, they exchanged vows on September 8, 1962, sharing a deep and enriching bond until his passing in 2023. Joyce was the embodiment of warmth and generosity, always working behind the scenes to ensure everyone around her blossomed and succeeded. Her contributions were particularly significant at Cedarville University, where her late husband coached and mentored students, welcoming each of them into her heart as if they were her own children. She stood as a steadfast pillar of support, ensuring that all events ran smoothly and that joy radiated from every corner.

As a cherished member of Grace Baptist Church since 1970, Joyce fostered a strong sense of community and connection. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, shaping her interactions and relationships with all who had the privilege to know her.

In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind her beloved sister, Peg (Dale) Ziegler, and brother Ron (Deb) Walker, as well as her sister-in-law, Linda Walker. Joyce also mourned the loss of her son, Russell King, and her late siblings, Dick Walker and Becky Walker.

Joyce’s legacy of encouragement and nurturing spirit will continue to inspire her family and friends. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many, and her love will be felt by all for years to come. In lieu of a memorial service for Joyce, her family asks that you share a meal with a friend and if you really want to honor Joyce's memory, watch a Gaither's video on YouTube, relishing in the goodness of God in your lives with each other.
