John Parker Evans, 72, of Springfield Ohio, passed away on Thursday February 13th 2025 surrounded by family. He was born January 13th, 1953 to parents Fredrick J. Evans, and mother Elizabeth J. (Saunders) Evans. John graduated from Shawnee high school in Springfield Ohio with the class of 1971, Clark State Community college class of 1973 with a degree in Turf nursery , and graduated from Urbana University with a bachelor’s degree in business with the class of 1977. John decidated his life to working in landscaping, and landscaping nurseries. He worked for many places, most notably; Scraffs, Siebenthalers, Berry Hill, Browns and sons, and the Ohio Masonic Lodge as the head of ground keeping and landscaping. (Or various places in the Dayton and Springfield area)
His passion for landscaping bloomed into a family vegetable garden, flower beds for the different seasons, shrubbery, trees, and many more plants around his home that he took great pride in nurturing, growing, and teaching his family how to care for. John was passionate about the outdoors. He took part in cycling, and playing outside with his children and grandchildren. John had a passion for cooking which he passed on to his children and grandchildren, he often used ingredients from his backyard, and taught his family that home grown is always better than store bought. Along with his passion of cooking, he enjoyed crafting homemade IPA’s, and experimenting with different drafts.
John is proceeded in death by his father, Fredrick J. Evans, mother Elizabeth J. (Saunders) Evans, and brother Lt. Col. Fredrick M. Evans. He is survived by his wife, Lesa (Siler) Evans, first wife, Lona J. Evans, and their children J. Michael (Kristin) Evans, Carrie E. (Matthieu) Glaser, grandchildren Erin Payne (Adam Baltozer), Levi S. Milledge, Shane P Milledge, Jenna L. Evans, and Great grandchildren Lenox A. Payne, and Clover A. Baltozer, and step grandchildren, Jamiya Peterson, and Jamar Peterson Jr.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 11:00-1:00 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1500 Broadway Road. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, also at the church.
