Jean Finchum, a beloved matriarch and guiding light to all who knew her, left this world on November 14, 2024, at the age of 88, in South Charleston, Ohio. Born on March 11, 1936, in Paintsville, Kentucky, Jean's journey through life was marked by her unwavering love, nurturing spirit, and a remarkable dedication to family and community.
As a devoted homemaker and hardworking farmer’s wife, Jean was the core of her family. She took great pride in caring for everyone around her, exemplifying a motherly presence that radiated kindness and compassion. Her family fondly recalls her infectious smile and joyful laughter, particularly when celebrating life’s special moments. Notably, some of her happiest days in recent weeks were during the election when she cheered in delight at the news of President Trump’s victory!
Jean's personality was characterized by her deep faith and her sweet, caring nature. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and her genuine warmth enriched the lives of many. Her smile could brighten the darkest of days, reflecting a heart full of kindness and an unwavering spirit.
Jean is survived by her loving son, Shannon (Jan) Finchum and cherished daughter, Sheryl (Mark) Cessna. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Jodi (Marlin) Cunningham, Jessica (Howard) Dietmeyer, Lanett (Tom) Wade, and Carson (Andrea) Cessna, as well as her great-grandchildren: Zachary Turner, Braydon Wade, Evey (Colby) McHenry, Elisa Cessna, James Cessna, Paxton Wade, Garrett Dietmeyer, Braxton Finchum, Kaden, and Koby Cunningham. Jean also held a special place in the hearts of numerous nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish her memories.
Jean now joins her beloved parents, Thomas and Olga (Kelly) Ferguson; her devoted husband, Ralph Finchum; and her son, Ralph Finchum, Jr., along with her brothers Merle, Beacher, Dallas, Bussie, Ugle, and Bennie Ferguson.
Her family invites all who knew her to join them in acelebration of her life. Visitation will be held on November 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the International Pentecostal Church of Christ located at 3333 E. National Rd, Springfield, OH 45505. Pastor Richard Blevins officiating. Jean will then be laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park beside her beloved husband. Following her committal service, family and friends are invited to continue fellowship and share stories over a meal that is being provided by the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the International Pentecostal Church of Christ (IPCC). Arrangements entrusted to Ingling & Lewis Funeral Home, South Charleston, Ohio.
