Ilena Sue Shaffer

SHAFFER, Ilena Sue age 80 of Springfield went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 22, 2021. She was born on July 3, 1940 in Chillicothe, Missouri to the late Jesse J. and Ilena P. (McCullum) Howe.  In addition to her parents, Ilena is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Ray Shaffer and siblings: Ernie, Charlie, Paul, Kay and Connie.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Ralph Shaffer and Rany Shaffer; grandchildren: Jason (Brandy) Shaffer, James "Jimmy" (Apryl) Shaffer, Justin (Jacquel) Shaffer, Jacob (Allie) Shaffer, and Jessica (Micah) Bilyeu and numerous great-grandchildren.  Ilena was blessed with extended family members, Beulah Black, Lois Foster and Lottie Clark. Ilena always enjoyed her many years spent square dancing and made so many amazing friends.  She will be deeply missed by her church family at Pleasant Grove Church, where she was a member for years.  Ilena also enjoyed camping, but more than anything, she loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A visitation will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Church where her funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m.  Ilena will be laid to rest next to her husband, James at Greenlawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove Church in her honor.  Condolences are forwarded to the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com
