Howard A. Sothard Jr.

SOTHARD, Howard A. Jr., age 53 of Springfield passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Northwood Care Center. He was born on September 27, 1966 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Patricia A. (John)  Elder of Springfield and Howard A. (Elaine) Sothard Sr. of Lake Placid, Florida. In addition to his parents, Howard is survived by his son, Cory Sothard; sisters, Amy (Don Dautel) Elder of Springfield, and Betsy (Michael) Shaffer of Powell, Ohio; brothers, Ted Sothard and Wesley Sothard both of Springfield; special friends, Brian and Michelle Riley as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.  Howard is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Martha Knisley; paternal grandparents, Wallace and Vivian Sothard and his brother, R. Eric Elder. Howard was in the medical field for 25 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and fishing.  Howard was a devoted family man who loved spending time with them as much as possible.  He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.  The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Richard Darr and Ohio's Hospice for their amazing care of Howard.  Private family services will be held at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center.  He will be laid to rest in Ferncliff Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions be made to the Special Olympics or Ohio's Hospice in Howard's honor.  Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com
