Gerald Joseph Shoemaker, fondly known as Jerry, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2025, at the age of 63. Jerry was born on September 28, 1961, in Springfield, where he spent much of his life. He dedicated his career to serving as a maintenance technician, applying his skills and work ethic to ensure that the facilities he cared for were always in top condition. Jerry learned his craft when his attended JVS for commercial arts, and Graduated Springfield North High School in 1979.
A proud member of the Army National Guard, Jerry exemplified a strong sense of duty and commitment, qualities that he carried into all aspects of his life. He was actively involved in his community and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the Union Club, and the Machinist Club, where he fostered friendships and shared camaraderie with fellow members.
Jerry's passions were numerous, not least of which was his love for riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. An avid rider, he explored the open roads with a sense of adventure that reflected his vibrant spirit. He will be remembered not only for his enthusiasm for riding but also for his deep love for family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Jessica) Shoemaker, Stacy (Robert) Bond, and Timothy Shoemaker; his brother, David Shoemaker; companion of 15 years, Pam and his cherished grandchildren: Parker, Preston, Danielle, Allie, Brenna, Brayden, Riley, and great-grandchildren Evelyn and Azayla. Jerry's family is strengthened by the presence of many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who grieve his loss.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Shoemaker, and his grandson, Kaylob. His passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A viewing will be held in his honor on April 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Jackson Lytle And Lewis Life Celebration Center, located at 2425 N Limestone St, Springfield, OH 45503. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Jerry's life beginning at 3:00 p.m. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to live on in the stories shared and the love he gave.
