George Richard Cheek

CHEEK, George "Dick" age 86 of Springfield, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at Ohio State University Medical Center. He was born on October 10, 1936 in Springfield, the son of the late Earl and Florence (Bobst) Cheek. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Cheek, Lowell Cheek, and Paul Cheek as well as his brothers-in-law, Merrill Keplinger and Ron & Mary Keplinger. He leaves behind his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Keplinger) Cheek; sister-in-law, Mary E. Keplinger and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Dick retired from the City of Springfield after 30 years of dedicated service, including his tenure as Snyder Park Golf Course Superintendent. Dick loved his classic hot rods and enjoyed any fast car. His yard was always in pristine condition, he took pride in mowing multiple times a week. Dick and Dorothy have had many cats throughout the years and they have loved every one. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his service beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Moehn officiating.
