Gary Eugene Potter, age 77, of Springfield, passed away in his home on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He was born on June 8, 1944, the son of the late Charles and Martha Jane (Sherrock) Potter. In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Clara J. Potter who passed in 2017; his son, Jeffery Potter; grandson, Zack Freeman; and siblings, George, Bruce, Audrey, Betty, Doris, Grace, Caroline and Diane. He is survived by his children, Gary (Nicol) Potter, Kelly (Michael) Schoonover and Joseph (Tilly) Potter; grandchildren, Logan, Gary II, Harley, Everett, Candace (Ben), Keith, Kayleigh (Chris), Joshua, Michael, Anthony, Kimberly, Destini, Jeff, Dylan, Dallas, Kennedy, Kelsey, Michael, Aaron and Austin; siblings, Charles (Sylvia) Potter, Elizabeth Maynard and Amber (Ronnie) Dillow; numerous great-grandchildren; his beloved Dog, Finn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary retired from ITT Jabsco after many years. He loved fishing and going to yard sales, collecting sports cards and sports memorabilia but above all else, his family always came first. He was a family oriented man who was a wonderful husband, father, papaw and brother who will be dearly missed. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 3p.m. with viewing one hour prior at Jackson Lytle & Lewis LIfe Celebration Center. Pastor Kevin Moehn will be officiating.
