Frank R. Marcucci, Jr.

May 3, 1965 — March 15, 2025

Yellow Springs, Ohio

Frank Richard Marcucci Jr., beloved son, brother, uncle, partner, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 15, 2025, at the age of 59, at his residence. His sudden passing has left his family and friends in deep sorrow, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Born on May 3, 1965, in Providence, Rhode Island, Frank grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts. He later moved to Yellow Springs, Ohio, where he attended Antioch College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Bio Chemistry and his Masters in Sociology from Wright State College. He worked an internship with 2 Nobel Scientists on fish decomposition research at a Yellow Springs lab. Frank was passionate about learning, constantly exploring new topics and expanding his knowledge. He had a love for books, history, and, of course, comic books.

Frank is survived by his loving mother, Angela Marcucci of Lexington, MA; his brother, James (Jim) Marcucci, and sister-in-law, Vivian Vaudreuil, of Manchester, NH; his niece, Sarah, and nephews, Jesse and Josh. He will also be deeply missed by his Aunt Judy Gauthier, Uncle Otto Lehrer Sr and his many cousins, Andrea Lehrer, Otto Lehrer Jr, Hartwell III Gauthier, Kimberly (Gauthier) Peck, Eric Gauthier, Frank Marcucci, and Eugene Marcucci. Frank’s beloved cat, Tennessee Jed, will carry his memory forward as well. He is also remembered with great affection by Christina Pusecker, with whom he shared 20 years of love and companionship. He was predeceased by his father, Frank Richard Marcucci Sr., as well as his grandparents, Hartwell (Hardy) Gauthier and Angelica (Nelly) Gauthier, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, including Gloria Lehrer, Anne Marcucci, Josephine Milone, Leroy Gauthier, Eugene Marcucci, Stevie Marcucci, Patrick Milone, Robbie Milone, and Richard Milone. Frank’s childhood was filled with joy and adventure, including cherished visits to his grandparents’ homes and memorable trips with his family to Disney World, Sebago Lake in Maine, and international travels to France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, and Puerto Rico. He achieved Life as a boy scout, a competitive swimmer winning 2 medals in the breaststroke, a lifeguard for the Lexington public pools and skied suicide hill in NH after 1 lesson. These experiences shaped the curious, and adventurous spirit that defined him throughout his life. Frank’s passions were as vast as his heart. He was a lifelong fan of the Grateful Dead, traveling extensively with friends to attend concerts across the country. Whether near or far, Frank could always be found dancing with the Dead, immersing himself in the music that brought him so much joy. His love for comic books was equally deep, and he proudly served as the Manager of Dark Star Comics in Ohio, where he connected with customers who shared his enthusiasm for the art form. He had a thriving online comic business and paid it forward by teaching children how to read via free comic book events. Frank’s expertise and dedication to comics along with his humanitarian efforts made him a respected figure in the community. A true lover of knowledge and adventure, Frank spent his free time reading, acting in the renaissance festivals every year, researching, and exploring new subjects of interest. He had an unquenchable thirst for understanding the world and was always ready to share what he learned with others. Frank enjoyed watching sci-fi shows, drinking wine, day trading, dancing, and going on cruises with his mother. He valued his friendships deeply and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Frank was known for his integrity, strong values, and positive energy. He lived his life to the fullest with patience and grace, always offering kindness and wisdom to those around him. He believed in the power of love and service, and his actions spoke to that belief every day. As Frank often said, “It all comes back to us,” a sentiment that will resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though Frank’s time with us was far too short, his legacy of compassion, curiosity, and joy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He reminds us that we control our attitudes, and that a life filled with meaningful acts of love and service is the greatest gift we can give. A memorial service will be held in Lexington, MA in his honor along with a celebration of life in Yellow Springs Ohio (dates & times TBD). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice, reflecting Frank’s lifelong commitment to helping others. Frank will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain with us forever, guiding us with his example of kindness, curiosity, and the love of life.
