Douglas Elwood Watson, age 62, passed away on June 19, 2022 in Springfield, Ohio. Douglas was born on September 16, 1959 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Elwood and Barbara (Crowell) Watson. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde and Glena Watson, in-laws, Bruce and Emmalee Estep, and his lifelong best friend, Kevin Dover. Doug is survived by his wife, Deena (Estep) Watson, children; Kellie (Brandon) Hoskins, Jason (Trisha Michael) Watson, Brian (Sophie) Watson, grandchildren; Rickie, Tayoni, Tashiyah, Treyvon, Ryan, Emmalee, Ramona, Jason, Darren, and Rachel, brother, Edgar (Kellie Blair) Watson. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Susan and Dr. Felix at the Springfield Cancer Center.
Doug was a 1977 graduate of Springfield North where he was in the marching band and played the drums. He was an avid painter, his inspiration being Bob Ross. He enjoyed NASCAR, golf, and bowling. Doug played the guitar and enjoyed music by the rock band Rush. He loved Sherlock Holmes, coffee, and his dachshunds. Doug also worked for Honda for many years. Most importantly, he was the best father to his children.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 23, 2022 from 11:00-1:00 p.m., at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Kevin Moehn. Burial to follow at Enon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the family during this difficult and unexpected time.
