Dorothy (Keplinger) Cheek, age 88, of Springfield, passed away at Ohio Hospice of Miami County. She was born on December 27, 1935, on her family’s farm in Springfield, Ohio. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Allan “Ray” Keplinger and Loa (Halderman) Keplinger. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, George “Dick” Cheek, and her three brothers: Gerald (Mildred) Baird, Merrill (Mary E.) Keplinger, and Ronald (Mary L.) Keplinger. Dorothy is survived by her caretakers, nephew James (Elaine) Keplinger, niece Sara (Mark) Hoewischer, and niece Rachael (Ed) Geers. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews, including Becky (Butch) Bradburn, Vickie (Ken) Smith, Jeff (Kim) Keplinger, Terry (Sandy) Keplinger, Kevin (Trisha) Keplinger, and Matt (Teresa) Keplinger. Dorothy retired from Olan Mills after more than 30 years of service. Following her retirement, she enjoyed attending car shows with her husband and spending time with family. Over the years, Dorothy and Dick shared their home with several beloved cats. After the loss of her husband, Dorothy went to live with her sister-in-law, Mary E. Keplinger, who invited her to return to the farm where she was born. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024 from 12:30-1p.m. at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration with service beginning at 1pm. Pastor Kevin Moehn will be officiating. Burial will follow at Vale Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
