Donald G. Bishop, affectionately known as Don, passed away on February 21, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Springfield, Ohio, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Born on December 10, 1950, he was a constant source of love and joy for his family and friends.
Don dedicated over 30 years of his life to his career at International Harvester, where he became a valued member of the team before retiring. His dedication to hard work continued as he took on a role at Ceva Logistics as a truck driver until health challenges made it impossible for him to continue.
Don was not just defined by his work; he was a man of many passions. He cherished his time on the water, particularly enjoying his boat and the beauty of Norris Lake. When he wasn't out on the boat, he could often be found speeding down the road in his prized 2006 Corvette. Music was another fundamental part of is life; he loved playing guitar, a skill he took great pride in sharing with his grandson, imparting not only music but also cherished memories.
He was a devoted family man who adored his daughters, Juli (Jon) Walder, Lori Bishop and Brandy (Eddie) Massengill. In addition, his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Don found the greatest happiness in spending time with Nate (Kari) Walder, Cameron Walder, Delaney (Ryan) Miller, Bailee Smith, Carlee Smith, Jesse Massengill, and Tucker Massengill. Don’s legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Emma Walder, Wyatt Miller and Walker Miller, who will carry forward the warmth of his spirit.
In addition to his immediate family, Don shared a close bond with his siblings, Jim (Dorothy) Bishop, Betty Hall, and George (Rita) Bishop and his partner, Sandra McCabe. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Russ and Betty (Riggle) Bishop.
The family invites friends and loved ones to honor Don’s memory during a visitation at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center on February 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
