Derrick L. Davis, a beloved father, son, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2023, in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on October 2, 1969, in Springfield, Ohio. Derrick will always be remembered for his vibrant personality, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Derrick's journey began with his education at Springfield South High, class of 1988. He went on to pursue his passion for aerospace engineering and computer engineering at The Ohio State University. Throughout his academic career, Derrick excelled and earned multiple degrees in these fields. However, his love for barbering also shone through as he attended barber school and developed a genuine passion for cutting hair. He took great pride in sharing this skill with his family and friends.
In his professional life, Derrick flourished as a Specialist Supplier Quality and Development at Collins Aerospace for several years. His dedication and expertise were evident in everything he did. Derrick's commitment to excellence made him an invaluable asset to the company.
Beyond his professional achievements, Derrick had a zest for life that was infectious. He was a jack of all trades who enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing golf and baseball. These hobbies provided him with moments of joy and camaraderie that will forever be cherished by those who shared them with him.
Above all else, Derrick's greatest source of happiness came from being with his loved ones. He was a fun-loving individual who cherished moments spent with family and friends. His wonderful sense of humor brought laughter to those around him, as he loved joking around and always had a smile on his face. Derrick's warm presence ensured that every gathering was filled with joy and positive energy.
Derrick's role as a father was one he held dear to his heart. To Genesis Bratcher, Elon Iman Davis, and Bryce Xavier Lewis Davis - the children whom he adored with all his heart - he was a pillar of support, love, and guidance. His dedication to being a loving father was unwavering, and he took great pride in watching his children grow into remarkable individuals.
Derrick is survived by his mother, Deborah Davis, who provided him with unwavering love and support throughout his life. He is also survived by his children and their mother Evelyn Renae Bratcher. Derrick's father, Charlie Davis Jr., who passed away before him, holds a special place in his heart as well. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
On November 3, 2023, family and friends will have the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate Derrick's life. The viewing will be held at Jackson Lytle And Lewis Life Celebration Center in Springfield, Ohio, starting at 12:00 PM. Following the viewing, a funeral service will take place at the same location at 1:00 PM. Graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
