David Lee Shoemaker, "The Shoe" a respected member of the Springfield community, passed away on April 4, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, following a long battle with health issues. Born on May 11, 1957, in Springfield, Ohio, David was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend who made significant contributions to both his family and his profession.

David dedicated 30 years of his life to the City of Springfield, where he worked diligently and rose through the ranks, embodying the spirit of hard work and perseverance.

A proud veteran, David served honorably in the Air Force, where he developed a sense of camaraderie and discipline that would shape his life long after his military service. His love for his country and respect for its values were cornerstones of his character.

Outside of his career and military service, David had a vibrant life filled with hobbies that brought him joy. He was an enthusiastic motorcyclist, relishing the freedom of the open road. His passion for playing darts was well-known among friends and family, and though he may not have excelled at golf, he embraced the challenge and enjoyed every moment spent on the course.

David was also an active member of the Eagles, Union Club and Buckeye Club, communities which allowed him to form significant friendships and connections. His warm presence and unwavering support endeared him to many.

He is survived by his son, Joe Shoemaker; daughter, Danielle (Corey) Puckett; and grandson, Calvin Puckett. Additionally, he leaves behind nieces, nephews, and countless friends including, Randy White and Jeff Ruppert who he considered brothers, that will cherish the memories they shared with him.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Shoemaker, and his brother, Jerry Shoemaker.

As we reflect on the life of David Lee Shoemaker, we celebrate his contributions, his passions, and the legacy of love and devotion he leaves behind. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
