Chester Lyn “Chet” Perkins Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 5, 2023, in Springfield, Ohio. He was born on June 28, 1956, in Fayette County, Ohio to the late Charles and Helen (Phillips) Perkins.
Chet led a remarkable life filled with diverse experiences. He had an impressive career that spanned various industries. He drove a semi-truck, worked a few years with the United States Postal Service, and contributed his skills as an electric worker.
Chet had a deep love for NASCAR and horse racing, often spending weekends rooting for his favorite drivers or horses. He was also skilled at playing horseshoes and enjoyed friendly competitions with family and friends. His passion for farming allowed him to connect with nature and nurture the land around him. All in all, Chet enjoyed sitting down and enjoying his favorite, Budweiser.
Family was always treasured by Chet. Throughout his life journey, he was fortunate to be surrounded by loved ones who cherished him deeply. Chet is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Lisa (Henderson) Perkins, who stood by his side through thick and thin. His children Chester Lyn Perkins Jr., Christopher McCureay, and Amber (JD) Pence held a special place in his heart, filling his life with pride and happiness. The abundant love did not end there; his grandchildren Jacob Maynard, Jadelynn Pence, Devin Perkins, Ava Pence, Mason Perkins, and Jon Pence were a source of unimaginable joy to him. Chet is also survived by his siblings; Neoma Massie, Frank Perkins, James (Vickie) Perkins, Robert (Diane) Perkins, Tennie Perkins, Deeann (Perkins) Litteral, and Pam Creech, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings Charles Perkins Jr., Diane Blake, and Sara Wheeler. Chet’s presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
