Carol May Hazlett was born on September 12, 1936, in Thackery, Ohio to Edgar and Nellie Shaffer. She grew up and went to school in Thackery and graduated from Christiansburg Jackson High School with the class of 1954. After high school she went to work as a secretary for International Harvester. She was married on November 12, 1955, in Terre Houte, Ohio to Dean Hazlett and they made their home in New Moorefield and in 1968 they moved to Urbana, Ohio. Carol continued working for International Harvester until she retired in 1989. In the 1990’s they moved to Buffalo where they lived for a couple years before moving back to Ohio. In 2010 they moved back to Buffalo. Dean passed away in September of 2019 and Carol continued living in Buffalo until her death.

Carol enjoyed puzzle books and loved to mow her lawn.

She is survived by one daughter Deann Meyer and her husband John of Buffalo; Four grandchildren, Hannah Lutkins and her husband Wilbur of Casper, Wyoming, Jason Meyer and his wife Twila of Buffalo, Kerrie Hazlett of North Carolina and Kaleb Meyer also of Casper and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son Mark Hazlett.

Graveside funeral services for Carol Hazlett, 88-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away Friday morning at her home south of Buffalo, will be held Monday, March 3rd at 11:00 AM in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Visitation will be held at the Jackson Lytel Lewis Funeral Home in Springfield, Ohio on Sunday, March 2nd from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the Susie Bowling Lawrence Hospice at 497 West Lott in Buffalo, Wyoming 82834.
