Carla Mae Lawhun

Carla Mae Lawhun, 66 of Springfield was found resting peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 13, 2023. She was born on November 16, 1956, in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of Carl and Clara Stephenson. She graduated from Ironton High School and received an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Shawnee State College. Carla worked for Speedway LLC for over 20 years before retiring to care for her late husband of 41 years, Ricky Lawhun. Upon his death she volunteered for hospice and had recently received her 5-year service pin. Carla was a member of Fowler Road Church of Christ in Christian Union and loved her church family. Carla enjoyed nature, crafting, and caring for animals. She brought joy and comfort to everyone she met. She is survived by her two daughters, Tiffany (David) Bailey of Springfield, Ohio and Lisa (Kevin) Casteel of Cardington, Ohio; two grandchildren: Nate Bailey and Kaylee Casteel both of whom she loved dearly; one sister, Jenny (Richard) Lunsford of Ironton, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Sue (Mike) Peach of Portsmouth, Ohio; several nieces, great nieces, great nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. Carla would not have wanted people to mourn over her, but rather celebrate the life she lived by sharing memories of her. Please join us for her celebration of life on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor John Young officiating.
