Carl William "Bill" Zimmer

ZIMMER, Carl William "Bill" age 73 of Springfield passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 4, 1947, the son of Charles A. and Elly (Strauch) Zimmer in Dayton, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his son, Shawn M. Zimmer. He leaves behind his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 54 years, Linda (Wolford) Zimmer; son, Greg (Tonya) Zimmer; grandchildren: Jay, Samantha, Caleb, Brandon, Hannah, and Cassie as well as his brothers, Don (Julie) Zimmer and Tim (Delia) Zimmer. Bill is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, many friends and extended family. Bill was a Springfield North graduate, class of 1965 and served his country in the United States Army. He was known as "Cricket" at Navistar where he retired from after 30 years of dedicated service. Bill was a trustee at the Eagles Club, a member of the Union Club and UAW #402. He enjoyed fishing, camping and taking care of his yard. Bill's sense of humor was unbeatable; he could make anyone smile through his bigger than life personality and jokes. His legacy will be carried on through his family and friends who will deeply miss him. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with his funeral beginning at 3:00 p.m. along with military honors at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center.
