Ann Elizabeth Agee

July 11, 1946 — April 2, 2025

Springfield

On April 2, 2025, we sadly said goodbye to our beloved sister and aunt, Ann Agee. She was born Ann Elizabeth Darnbrough July 11, 1946, in Gallipolis, Ohio, to Pollyanna and Arthur Darnbrough, Jr. Ann grew up in Gallipolis and graduated from Gallia Academy High School in 1964. She earned a bachelor of arts in business education from The Ohio State University. In 1974 she married Thomas E. Agee, Jr., the love of her life. She was completely devoted to him and was a model of strength and grace as she lovingly cared for him through a long illness until he passed away in 1986. Following this enormous loss, Ann moved to Annapolis, Maryland, where she lived for 30 years, and enjoyed time with many friends and neighbors. She had a very successful career as a court reporter in the Annapolis / Washington, D.C., metropolitan areas. She was known for her professionalism, sense of humor, and kindness. She had a fine eye for fashion and had a classic style. She was passionate about and received a degree in interior design. She loved to needlepoint and made many beautiful things for her home and friends. In 2020, she moved back to Columbus, Ohio to be closer to old friends and family. She was always a big Buckeye fan! She loved walking and pickleball. She especially enjoyed playing pickleball and spending time with her dear friend, Jay Shapiro. Ann was a beautiful woman. People often remarked that she reminded them of a brunette Diane Sawyer. She was kind to everyone she met and had impeccable manners. Her family loved her for her warmth, sense of humor, intelligence, and extreme generosity. She was always quick to offer support to her family whenever she saw a need. She was a loyal sister and devoted aunt who joyfully supported her nieces and nephews as they became young adults on their own. She was a great listener and was always ready to share her wisdom and advice about careers and relationships and anything else. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tom, her brother Arthur (“Duke”) Darnbrough, III, and her niece Gwynne Darnbrough. She is survived by her two sisters Deborah A. Darnbrough (Dan Cindric), Stephanie “Taffy” Waugh (David Waugh), her brother, Will Darnbrough, and 16 nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later time. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/). Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com.
