Alyson Renee Sneed, age 19, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2022.
On December 1, 2002, a beautiful blue-eyed girl was born to Gregory Sneed and Karen (Ivory). From the first moment they saw her, they knew that they were in trouble. Even before she could talk, she learned that batting her big eyes and giving adorable facial expressions would help her to get whatever she wanted. Even with her big brother, Zach, she knew how to get her way. Growing up with Aly was always an adventure. She was curious and inquisitive, asking as many questions as you would answer and making sure she learned everything she possibly could. She wasn’t like most kids that ask many questions, she would genuinely listen to you and absorb all you had to offer and could tell the next person all about what she had learned. She was fearless and open to whatever the world had to offer and her love for travelling began at a young age. At the age of 7, Aly’s mom introduced her to Will Harkins and Aly received her “bonus dad”. She was loved beyond measure and wanted for nothing. In elementary and middle school, Aly found a love for cheerleading and her bubbly personality fit right in. As she got a little older, she invested more of her time in school and learning and stepped away from cheer. She was witty and clever, enjoying playing pranks on her family and friends, just to bring a smile to your face. She graduated from Northwestern High School in 2021. Aly loved children and when you saw her with them, there was no doubt why she followed that passion and attended CTC for Early Childhood Education. She was full of life and enjoyed nothing more than helping others. Aly also loved the quieter times in life, and you could find her by herself at the reservoir reading a book or watching the sunset. Her passion for nature and travelling most recently took her out to Colorado where she fell in love and has been for the last 3 months. She always said she wanted to “live off the grid” but still keep her cell phone and Colorado was the perfect place. In her 19 years, Aly experienced life to the best she could and always made sure that those around her were happy. She would light up the room with her presence and leave you feeling nothing short of being the most important person to her at that moment in time. Aly will forever be loved, cherished and missed, but her “old soul” will continue to live on in the hearts of those who adored her.
She is survived by her mother, Karen (Will) Harkins; father, Gregory Sneed (Dianne Alig); brother, Zachary Roberts (Taylor Nelson); grandparents, Jane Huennerkopf and Larry and Terry Harkins; special cousin, Lex Wilber; half-sister, Sandra Sneed; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 4-7p.m. at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center. Service to honor her life will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 1p.m. also at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
