WICKER, Alma Day, age 101 of Springfield, Ohio went home to Glory on Monday, February 6, 2023. On August 19, 1921, she was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Dorsie and Amanda (Collinsworth) Keeton. In addition to her parents, Alma is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Wicker and eleven brothers & sisters. She leaves behind to honor her memory, daughter: Gloria J. (Robert) Portis; granddaughters: Toya (Ron) Scarborough, Dayna Portis, Charity (Alex) Bridges; and special granddaughter, Pauline (James) Riddick; five great-grandchildren: Remington Scarborough, Elizabeth (Nick) Brescia, DeAnna Scarborough, Imani Bridges and Aasha Bridges as well as two great-great grandchildren: Camden Thomas and Evelyn Brescia. Alma retired in 1974 after 32 years of service with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. After retirement, she spent much of her time bringing joy to others through volunteer work. She spent many years working with the children of Lincoln Elementary, volunteering in the service of Christ at WEEC Christian Radio and as a tax preparer at Elderly United. Alma was a proud member of Faith Assembly Worship Center where she was a faithful member of the choir, ministering to others including the prison ministry. She truly enjoyed bowling and participated in bowling leagues into her 90's. Alma also enjoyed traveling, for which she earned the nickname "World Traveler." Our beloved Alma had a great love for others. Her family was the most important part of her world, and she frequently showed them off in pictures. Alma never met a stranger and always encountered a friend wherever she went. This love was reciprocated until the day she went home to be with the Lord. Alma's visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Her celebration of life will follow on Monday, February 13, 2023, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at her beloved church, Faith Assembly Worship Center. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions be made to her church in her memory. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com
